What are Specials

A Special also known as a personalised medicine, is an unlicensed medicine prescribed to meet the individual clinical need of a patient when a suitable licensed medicine is not available.

For specific patient need

It all starts with a problem: a patient who can’t tolerate a standard dose; a patient that needs a different concentration or strength; a patient who has an allergic reaction to common drug excipients; a patient with dysphagia or swallowing difficulties; a much-needed drug that’s in short supply or discontinued, a drug that is not yet licenced or only licensed in another country. For whatever reason a personalised medicine can provide a solution.

Who we serve

Our service is available to Pharmacies, Doctors, Dispensing Doctors, Hospitals, Clinics, Wholesalers, Buying Groups, Specials Manufactures, Homes Healthcare, MOD and patients via our on-site pharmacy.

Specials Manufacturing

We manufacture all non-sterile dosage forms of specials under our Manufacturing Specials (MS) License which we have held for over 20 years. We are regulated and inspected by the MHRA and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). All our products are available with either a Certificate of Conformity (CofC) or Certificate of Analysis (CofA).

Using our wide range of industry-leading bases we can tackle the most complex patient problems, often via differing or emerging delivery systems, unmatched in performance and reliability.

With access to the largest, most comprehensive, well-supported formula database in the industry, we offer access to thousands of formulas, customisable in strength and pack size.

We stock a wide range of imported and sterile products. In addition, we work with our global network of supply partners to source and supply additional dosage forms to offer you a full specials service. We are regulated and inspected by the MHRA and comply with Good Distribution Practices (cGDP).
